Chevron World Challenge Golf Parking

The Chevron World Challenge is being held November 30 to December 5, 2010 in Thousand Oaks, California at the Sherman Oaks Country Club.

Parking for the Golf Tournament

As with every PGA event, large crowds overwhelm the small parking facilities at the course. Any spots near the course are reserved for players, officials volunteers and members.

Spectators are directed to park in outlying lots and shuttle buses take them directly to the front gate.

General admission parking is free in the lot located off of Potrero Road.

Plan to arrive 15 minutes earlier than you planned in order to allow for the bus ride. Buses are generally plentiful to the event. It will also take an extra 15 minutes or so at the end of the day to return to your car.

If you leave at the end of the day’s play, there may be a delay waiting for the bus, since many patrons will stay until the end. If you leave near rush hour, expect a long wait trying to reenter Southern California traffic.

Any Golf on TV today?

It's a slow weekend for TV golf, since the PGA Tour is taking the week off.

The Golf Channel has the Dubai World Championship. No well-known Americans in this one, but some famous European Tour players pretty well known to US audiences, included 2010 Major Tournament winners

  • Louis Oosthuizen
  • Martin Kaymer

Enjoy. Next week the PGA resumes in California.

Chevron World Challenge Golf Tournament

December 2nd to 5th the Chevron World Challenge will be contested at the Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks, California. A strong field of international golf professionals is expected, including Tiger Woods and last year’s winner Jim Furyk.

The total purse is $5 million, with a hefty winner’s share of $1.2 million, which can really move someone up the money list late in the year.

Thousand Oaks is in suburban Los Angeles. Tickets are still available, in the form or weekly and daily gallery passes, along with special packages.

If you can’t attend the tournament, television coverage will be on the Golf Channel on Thursday and Friday, shifting to NBC on Saturday and Sunday.

Who Won Golf’s Majors in 2010?

Looking back on 2010, it was mostly a year for unknowns to take the Major Championships. Possibly Tiger Woods’ problems led to that.

The Masters – Phil Mickelson
US Open – Graham McDowell

Childrens’s Miracle Network Classic

Childrens’s Miracle Network Classic PGA Event
Disney’s Magnolia & Palm Courses

Not a lot of big names in this Tournament, which was completed on November 14 in Lake Buena Vista in Florida. PGAtour.com has all the results, but the winner was Robert Garrigus. The winners share was $846,000, moving him up to 122 on the money list.

The bigger names near the top of the leaderboard were Charles Howell III, Vijay Singh and Rory Sabatini. These later tournaments offer great golf and the opportunity to see some other people on TV rather than every shot by Woods or Mickelson.

The next tournament is the Chevron World Challenge from Thousand Oaks, California, but most important for those involved is the PGA Tour Qualifying Tournament to be held in Florida. A lot less money at stake, but the chance to get a Tour card is huge to the hopefuls.
